Synthesis Statement
Genocides occur because of the role that the perpetrators have throughout the events. The actions of those who take part in the genocide will dictate the outcome of the conflict. That is really what it boils down to, the choices that are made by the perpetrators who are carrying these atrocious acts out. In this particular case there are two perpetrators, the people who are giving the orders and the people who are carrying out these atrocities. This multi genre project will go in depth on the different perspectives of the Bosnian genocide. A genocide that took the lives of more than 100,000 men, women and children and it did so in the most unimaginable ways. The pieces in this multi genre project reflect the impact that these perpetrators have in the lives of their victims.
The Muslim people of Bosnia were victimized by the Serbian soldiers whose sole purpose was to eliminate the Muslim population. The soldiers used their dominance to overtake the Muslim people and they did so in a very systematic way. The Serbian generals had a strategy which they believed would help them carry out their plot to cleanse the Bosnian territory, this would allow them to finally have a “Superior Serbia.” The Serbian soldiers were completely overpowering and dominant over their victims. This is one of the starting points of Genocide, once the victims lose the will to live their bodies and spirits no longer belong to them, they belong to the soldiers. This allowed the Serbian soldiers to do as they pleased with these people, which made it easy for them to kill, rape and humiliate their captives. All of this torture and evil comes from the hands of the ordinary soldiers, they are the true perpetrators and their willingness to kill caused the death of thousands of Muslims throughout Serbia. They are the true criminals, the ones who make genocides a reality.
